Fallout 4 was in the news recently when the game developer Bethesda revealed that the game would receive visual upgrades for PlayStation 4 Pro.
The developer has now made another announcement on a gamecast for Kinda Funny Games, saying that Fallout 4 has overtaken the popularity of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
According to Bethesda's Pete Hines, the VP of Marketing, Fallout 4 has become the "most successful game" ever launched by the company. However, there was no specific figure supporting what Hines meant by "most successful."
Fallout 4 vs Skyrim
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released in November 2011 and sold more than 20 million copies till 2014. Fallout 4, which was launched in November 2015, on the other hand, managed to ship 12 million copies.
The game's developer is yet to reveal exact sales figures of Fallout 4, but going by the words of the company's marketing executive, it can be safely assumed that the sales of the title surpassed that of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim easily.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been in the market for a longer period than Fallout 4 and even got a recent boost in sales with the launch of Special Edition Remaster. Therefore, the news of Fallout 4 bypassing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's popularity is surprising. Fallout 4 has gone on to become the most successful game ever made by Bethesda and this will be welcomed by the title's ardent fans.
Hines, during the interview, also teased fans about the upcoming projects of Bethesda and hinted that the next-gen game would up the ante.
"Whether it's Fallout or Elder Scrolls or whatever they're gonna do next, I think their mantra is always we really gotta step up our game," said Hines.
Fallout 4 Updates
Bethesda is also preparing for the launch of a High-Resolution Texture Pack for Fallout 4's, PC version.
According to the speculations, a PC will require 58 GB of free space to run the High-Resolution Texture Pack of Fallout 4 on PC. Bethesda, on the other hand, states that a PC would need to run on 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10 operating systems. The PC should also be equipped with an Intel Core i7-5820K or above version along with 8 GB of RAM or more.
The High-Resolution Texture Pack will only work well if the PC has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB or the AMD Radeon RX 490 8 GB graphics card.
However, PC's without the above specifications will also be able to run the High-Resolution Texture Pack well enough. If the PC fails to do so, one can always deactivate the high-resolution options from the menu of Fallout 4.
