It's been a year since gamers painstakingly crawled their way in the brutally difficult game Dark Souls 3. The first DLC Ashes of Ariandel introduced the world of Ariandel and added new weapons, items and bosses. The second and final DLC The Ringed City has rolled out March 28.
Like the first DLC, The Ringed City has also introduced new armors, weapons, magic, and the titular Ringed City. The DLC promised to give players more challenge as new beasts, bosses, and cast of characters will stand on the player's way as he chase the Slave Knight Gael all the way to the Ringed City.
But how does one go to this mythical city?
Unlike most games, getting a DLC in Dark Souls 3 isn't as simple as getting a prompt. The developers wanted to make the DLC as thematic and organic. In Ashes of Ariandel, the player needed to talk to an NPC to get to the DLC. In The Ringed City, you must interact with a bonfire. There are two ways to get it.
Via Kiln Of The First Flame Bonfire
Just a caveat: accessing the DLC depends on how far you have gotten to the main game. The DLC is a late-game content, meaning you must be at least level 125 or higher to get there. So consider yourself warned if your level falls behind the recommended one.
The first route is at the Kiln of the First Flame bonfire, where a second bonfire will appear that will transport you to first area in the DLC called the Dreg Heap (the bonfire is next to the Soul of Cinder, the final boss of the game.) There is no need to complete the game to get the DLC. To get there however, you need to fight four Lords of Cinder as beating them will unlock the Kiln of the First Flame. So the DLC is no cakewalk, so make sure your level is high enough.
Via Ashes Of Ariandel DLC Bonfire
The second route is via the Ashes of Ariandel DLC bonfire. This is next to the Sister Friede bonfire. Simply walk to it to activate the DLC. There are two conditions to unlock the bonfire, though. First, you must defeat the bosses Sister Friede and Father Ariandel. Then, make sure you talk to the painter in the attic of the Ariandel Chapel (by taking the ladder.) When you interact with the new bonfire you will be transported to the Dreg Heap, the first area in the Ringed City.
How To Update To The Ringed City DLC
Of course, you cannot access the Ringed City if you won't literally update the game. To do this, do the following:
• Update to the latest version of Dark Souls 3
• Visit Steam or your console store (Xbox One or PlayStation 4) and purchase the DLC.
• Download and install the DLC pack.
• Open the game and voila, enjoy another nightmarish level in this critically acclaimed game.
