Get Ready! 'Ghost Recon Wildlands' Open Beta Now Live

Get your gears ready, Ghosts. It's time to take down the cartel!

Or at least, in the Open Beta stage. Ubisoft's much-anticipated open-world tactical shooter Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands Open Beta is now underway. As an Open Beta, anyone can play the game. Players can download WIldlands from Ubisoft's site or from their gaming system sites. The Beta testing period is open until Feb. 27.

The game is slated for release on March 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

'Ghost Recon Wildlands' Goes Open Beta

Open Beta players can team up with three of their friends as they explore the vast open world of Bolivia. All the game's features are available for players, so Open Beta players can get acclimated with the game world before the game's launch. They are allowed to carry out missions across two drug-cartel infested provinces.

One province is Itacua, which was the setting of the Closed Beta last Feb. 3-6. The other province is Montuyoc. As described by Ubisoft in its blog, the province is located in the Bolivian Altiplano region.

"This province contains heavily defended strongholds where the Santa Blanca trains some of its toughest soldiers," Ubisoft wrote.

The players can play co-op (four people), or solo (with three AI buddies). They can utilize any vehicle— cars, jeeps, APCs, even helicopters — to carry out the mission however they want to do it. They can use the cover of darkness or storm to attack stealthily, or go guns blazing and shock the enemies before they can react.

Unidad Conspiracy Reward

Also, Ubisoft revealed that a bonus awaits those who play the Open Beta (and Closed Beta, as well). They will get access to the Unidad Conspiracy reward, a set of three exclusive missions in the "Media Luna region," one of the strongholds of the Unidad. The conspiracy features the "brewing conflict between the local Unidad military and the Santa Blanca."

Unidad leader El Comandante is hatching a conspiracy to usurp leadership of the cartel and take over the drug into Unidad's control. The players' goal is not only to expose this conspiracy, but also "to undermine the relationship between Unidad and the Santa Blanca Cartel" and ultimately destroy El Comandante and his forces.

The Unidad Conspiracy will be available for download after the game's launch on March 7. To redeem this reward, players must have a valid Uplay account and buy and play the game by March 31. The reward may be for purchase or as a giveaway (depending on Ubisoft's discretion).
