When Ghost Recon: Wildlands was announced at E3 2015, it was said that it would feature the biggest open world ever created by developer Ubisoft. The latest game in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series will have an environment that does not only influence the strategies of players, but it can also be influenced.
A report that reveals information for the upcoming action-adventure game shows that Ubisoft kept its promise, with a massive map that is set in the South American nation of Bolivia.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands Map Details
An in-depth feature on Ghost Recon: Wildlands by Polygon revealed just how massive the map for the game is, with the environment described as both the most beautiful and the most dangerous place on Earth.
The map is said to be made up of 21 regions, with each region featuring its own civilian population. There are towns, roads, and waterways found in each region, which also come with different ways of life and industries.
Even the NPCs that populate the regions of Ghost Recon: Wildlands contribute to the sense of size for the game. Each of the characters live their own life, as they wake up in the morning, go about their daily things, and then go to sleep at night, regardless of whether the player interacts with them or not.
In addition to the 21 regions, the open world of Ghost Recon: Wildlands features 11 different ecosystems, with each biome coming with unique ecological characteristics such as climate, wildlife, and topography. There are also 26 bosses scattered around the map, awaiting players to challenge them.
The size of the map for Ghost: Recon Wildlands is said to be comparable to the world of the wildly successful Take-Two title, Grand Theft Auto V.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands Out On March 7
Ghost Recon: Wildlands, set in the near future, will have players infiltrating enemy lines in a mission to take down a drug cartel that is based in the jungle. The game has a single player mode, but there will also be co-op missions that can support up to four players.
The game is set to be released to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 7, 2017. For gamers who are interested in participating in the open world adventure's beta testing, Ubisoft is now accepting applications.
There is no word on what Ubisoft is looking for in its beta testers for Ghost Recon: Wildlands and if multiplayer modes will be available during testing.
