Square Enix has released its latest batch of updates for its acclaimed Final Fantasy XV.
The Final Fantasy XV Patch 1.05 is now available for everyone. Also included is the Booster Pack + downloadable content for Season Pass Holders. Also, a mini-game called A King's Tale, a 2D game previously available only as preorder promotion, is now available for all.
The 1.05 patch also contains a PlayStation 4 Pro compatibility update, making it possible to play the game at 60 frames per second.
'FFXV' Booster Pack + DLC
The 2.14 GB-sized Final Fantasy XV update contains the Booster Pack + DLC available only for Season Pass holders. The DLC contains Ragnarok, a new single-handed sword that allows Noctis to perform a more powerful Warp Strike. Also included are two new fishing gears: Dragon Drain, a new fishing rod that "suppresses the movement of fish, making harder fish easier to catch" and Avior, a reel for Noctis for reeling in stronger fishes "by taking off more HP the lower the line durability falls."
The Booster Pack includes a Magitek Exosuit that will be available at a later date.
Two new music tracks from Square Enix's upcoming game NieR: Automata are also included in the DLC. The tracks "Song of the Ancients/Fate" and "Weight of the World" are added to the game's playlist. Players can enjoy these songs while walking around, driving the Regalia, or riding a chocobo.
Patch 1.05 Tweaks And Improvements
Several bug tweaks and game improvements have been added to the game. These include:
• Timed Quests addition
• Ability to play the music player while riding a chocobo
• Increased level cap from 99 to 120
• Increased number of saved photos from 150 to 200
• Increased framerate support 60 fps for PlayStation 4 Pro Lite mode
The Timed Quests are available in the "Camp Menu." The rewards are one-time completion only, but the quest itself can be repeated.
'A King's Tale' Game
The 2D game A King's Tale, which was previously available as a preorder bonus, will be available for everyone on March 1.
The game takes place 30 years before the Final Fantasy XV timeline. King Regis is telling an adventure tale to a young Noctis. It focuses on a young King Regis with his friends Weskham, Cid and Clarus as they travel to the Duscae plains and fight against monsters that raided the royal capital of Insomnia.
"Throughout the tall tale, King Regis and Noctis interject their own commentary, adding depth and perspective to the story itself," the website wrote.
For its gameplay, Square describes it as "retro-style inspired graphics centered around a fast-paced combat system with influences from modern gaming." The game will take pace in three diverse locations in the FFXV world.
The gameplay's key features are:
Deep Combat System — Engage in a "lightning-fast real-time combat" featuring combos and counters and Regis's "Warp Strike."
Magic — Use Fire, Ice, and Lightning to unleash devastating damage and effects on enemies.
Companions — Fight alongside three allies with unique attacks and super moves.
Summons — Invoke Astral entities to defeat your foes.
