Sony will soon be releasing a new software update for the PlayStation 4 that will address the rest mode issue that users are experiencing with the console.
Users are currently having problems powering the console back up after putting it on rest mode since the release of the console's Version 2.00 software.
Sony announced the release of Version 2.01 through its official Twitter account.
The tweet, however, did not contain any further details, specifically the exact date when the update would be rolled out.
However, updates to systems have usually arrived within 24 hours from Sony making such announcements.
Rest mode is the new name for the PlayStation 4's standby mode, which puts the console in a low-power state while the user takes a break. Ideally, the console would power up quickly to put the user straight back into the action after ending rest mode, bypassing startup time.
However, users are unable to end rest mode and resume playing, forcing them to unplug the console and rebooting it. Several unofficial fixes were discovered, but the fixes do not work for everyone.
The rest mode problem is not the only issue that Version 2.00 has brought to users. There has also been a connection issue to YouTube, along with difficulties in uploading content to the online video service.
Share Play, a long-awaited feature for the PlayStation 4, allowed users to delete files located in the consoles of their friends. This is obviously not what the feature is intended to be about.
Sony says that Share Play is a virtual couch that allows PlayStation 4 owners that are subscribed to PlayStation Plus to hand off the controls within a game to another player in a different location, even if the other player does not own a copy of the game being played.
The Big Alpha release for Evolve, a co-op shooting game by Turtle Rock, was delayed because of problems that it encountered with the recent software update of the PlayStation 4, showing that in addition to users, game developers also ran into problems with the Version 2.00 update.
It is not clear whether the upcoming Version 2.01 will also address these other issues.
Version 2.00 for the PlayStation 4 rolled out last week to bring several new features to the industry-leading gaming console. New features include theme support, live broadcasting enhancements, voice command improvements, a USB-based music player and the Share Play feature.
