A YouTuber who goes by the handle BOYvsVIDEOGAME was able to beat Final Fantasy XV at level one and without using any items, which is an impressive feat no matter how you look at it.
Final Fantasy XV has received mostly positive reviews, and is seen as a return to glory for the long-running Final Fantasy franchise. That said, the game still has some flaws, a few of which were called out by BOYvsVIDEOGAME over his remarkable playthrough.
How Did He Beat Final Fantasy XV On Level One?
To finish the game at level one, the YouTuber equipped the accessory named the Nixperience Band, which allowed him to avoid gaining levels throughout his mission to beat Final Fantasy XV at level one.
In Final Fantasy XV, players earn experience points through slaying monsters and completing quests, but they are not applied toward the party's growth until the player decides to have them sleep or the chapter comes to a close. However, with the Nixperience Band equipped, sleeping at camps or hotels and ending story chapters will not automatically apply accumulated experience points.
Of course, staying at level one is just one aspect of the feat, as finishing the game while being severely underpowered and without the usage of items is another monster altogether.
Utilizing warp strikes and most wielding a great sword, BOYvsVIDEOGAME was able to power his way through Final Fantasy XV, even across the hardest battles of the game. For example, in the boss fight against Aranea Highwind, it only took him minutes to take down the mercenary. However, to beat some hunting missions, the YouTuber took almost an hour to slay the target.
Criticism Against Final Fantasy XV
While on his very difficult mission, BOYvsVIDEOGAME did not hold back on criticizing Final Fantasy XV.
Against difficult enemies, the YouTuber found himself being hit a lot, and he blamed it on the game's combat system that he described as "so stupid" and "goofy," amid some profanities.
Despite the "goofy" combat system though, he was able to come up with strategies that allowed him to overcome challenging battles. Using the Tempest skill of Gladiolus, he was able to position Noctis into more damaging back attacks, and using the Overwhelm skill of Ignis, he was able to boost his damage output. Through great timing, the YouTuber was also able to dodge attacks launched by enemies.
BOYvsVIDEOGAME remained grumpy throughout his mission though, up until the end. When the ending credits were completed and displayed "fin," he launched one final criticism against Final Fantasy XV.
"Not even that good of a story. You don't deserve a fin," the YouTuber said.
Final Fantasy XV Completed In Over Nine Hours
BOYvsVIDEOGAME was able to beat Final Fantasy XV at level one without using any items with a play time of nine hours and 26 seconds. Over his playthrough, he was able to accumulate 266,566 experience points.
Beating Final Fantasy XV in such extreme conditions is not his first such accomplishment though, as he has previously been able to finish Dragon Age: Inquisition solo in the Nightmare difficulty, as well as complete Bloodborne without gaining a level.
