Amazon described this year's holiday season as the best one ever for the online retail company, with more than 1 billion devices already shipped under Amazon Prime and the Amazon Echo smart speakers selling nine times better compared to last year.
In addition to the Amazon Echo, the company revealed in a press release what its other best-selling items are across various categories. For video games, three titles stood out.
Pokémon Sun and Moon, Final Fantasy XV Top Amazon Sales
Under the Video Games category, the titles that topped Amazon's sales are Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon for the Nintendo 3DS and Final Fantasy XV for the PlayStation 4.
However, Amazon did not specify how many units of each game were sold and no specific period was also mentioned, though it is assumed that it would include parts of November and December.
In a Holiday Fun Facts section, Amazon noted that if all customers who purchased Pokémon Sun and Moon for the holidays would spent at least one hour playing the games since they were released, they would have spent the equivalent time of over 24,000 lunar cycles in their adventures of becoming the ultimate Pokémon master.
No Love For Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare
While having Pokémon Sun and Moon top Amazon's video game sales for the holidays alongside Final Fantasy XV is not exactly a surprise, what is not expected by gamers is that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is not among the retailer's top sellers.
The titles under the Call of Duty franchise are usually among the best-selling games over the holiday shopping season, beginning from Black Friday through Christmas. However, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was not able to achieve the feat, and while it ranked first in NPD's sales charts for November, it continues to struggle the most among all the games in the Call of Duty series.
