Final Fantasy XV, which has claimed the best start ever for any game in the long-running RPG franchise, will still be looking to build upon the success through the release of planned updates and downloadable content.
It was previously reported that Final Fantasy XV will be receiving free updates to fill in gaps in the game's storyline as well as make improvements to the uncharacteristically linear Chapter 13. Square Enix is also said to be developing several packages of DLC for the game.
Among the planned DLC for Final Fantasy XV are the tentatively named Episode Gladiolus, Episode Ignis, and Episode Prompto, which gamers expect would give deeper looks into the stories behind the friends of Prince Noctis.
Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladiolus Brings Back Gilgamesh
Not much has been previously known about the DLC that Square Enix is working on. However, a special edition book that was sent out to some YouTubers has provided more information on the upcoming DLC for Final Fantasy XV, particularly for what would be the first one to be released, Episode Gladiolus.
A spread of pages on the book featured comments from Final Fantasy XV DLC producer Haruyoshi Sawatari, including the revelation that party strongman Gladiolus will face off in what will surely be an epic fight against the classic Final Fantasy character Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh has made several appearances within the Final Fantasy franchise, mostly as either a boss fight or as a summon. He has been given different forms across the games where he was included, though he is mostly depicted as a many-armed warrior who wields several swords at once.
There is a certain part in the game's storyline wherein Episode Gladiolus could take place. The particular event will not be stated in the interest of remaining spoiler-free, but gamers who have already played through Final Fantasy XV will not have any trouble thinking of the part wherein Gladiolus could have possibly engaged Gilgamesh in battle.
Other Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladiolus Details
In the book, Sawatari also noted that in Episode Gladiolus, players will be able to go to locations that were inaccessible in the main game, with the location of the Gladiolus-Gilgamesh fight likely one of the new places in the upcoming DLC.
However, given that Episode Gladiolus will happen in the middle of the Final Fantasy XV main storyline and not after the ending, it is unclear how Square Enix will handle having to send players back to a previous point in the game.
There is no release date that has so far been stated for Episode Gladiolus, though, so gamers already looking forward to the fight between Gladiolus and Gilgamesh will have no choice but to wait.
