Apart from the LG G6, poised as the upcoming G-series flagship, LG is also working on a new, midrange V-series phone, a less pricey option between its other V-series flagships, the V10 and V20.
The aforementioned phone in the works is reportedly called the LG V5, and OnLeaks has now published product renders of the forthcoming smartphone.

The LG V5
The name "V5" still isn't the name's final moniker, according to OnLeaks. LG's midrange V-series offering appears to don a plastic housing, a tad less sophisticated-looking than its premium siblings, which is just par for the course considering its market tier.
The device, interestingly, appears to come with a microUSB port for charging instead of the more powerful USB-C, which is increasingly becoming the standard for smartphones.
Perhaps the most interesting thing about the renders is the device's back panel, which tapers slightly toward the device's nether region, a unique design element that might usher the V5 upward against a crowd of minimally designed midrange offerings.
The purportedly removable back panel also features a fingerprint scanner, which is a premium smartphone staple, so seeing it on a midrange device makes it a bit more valuable than other smartphones of the ilk.
The screen is estimated to be 5.3 inches, and should likely sport a 1,280 x 720 resolution, as is the usual case with midrange smartphones.
LG V5 Specs
No mention of LG V5 specs has made its way to the fore, so the recently leaked renders are only the source material to speculate on. There's no mention of fast charging, which is unlikely because of its lack of a USB-C port, though it could still sport an outdated iteration of the technology.
As with midrange smartphones, it's counterintuitive to expect powerful specs embedded on the V5. On the software front, LG still hasn't offered any word whether the V5 will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box or Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Rumors about the V5 haven't gotten any foothold as of this time, and no release schedule has been announced, let alone any word on pricing.
LG V30
In other LG news, the company is also currently working on the followup to the LG V20. Evan Blass teased in late November about having renders of the LG V30, while also suggesting that for the upcoming smartphone, LG might be foregoing its signature secondary display gimmick found on the V10 and V20, but will instead improve upon it going forward.
