LG Files Trademark Applications For Four New Smartwatches And Accelerates Work On LG Pay

LG has a number of smartwatches in its wearable portfolio. However, the company is rumored to be working on four new smartwatches, which could make way to the shelves sometime in 2017.

LG Smartwatches

The wearable market is growing at a rapid pace and LG wants to take full advantage of the trend. The most recent LG smartwatches are called Watch Urbane and LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition.

The company has filed four trademark applications with the EU which includes: Watch Style, Watch Pro, Watch Force and Watch Sole. These could be the names of LG's next smartwatches.

All these wearables would be capable of transmitting data from a PDA or a smartphone. Apart from the names, no other information is available for the upcoming LG smartwatches.

Expected Launch Of The Next LG Smartwatches

Rumors suggest that LG may launch these four smartwatches along with the company's next flagship smartphone — the LG G6. Although a confirmed launch date of the LG G6 is not available, it is likely that the company will announce the smartphone during the Mobile World Congress event in February 2017.

LG Mobile Payment Service

A number of mobile payment systems such as Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay are available to customers, and thousands of retailers in many regions across the world are accepting mobile payments. The International Data Corporation suggests that mobile payment service is estimated to account for $1 trillion in 2017.

LG had also confirmed that it was working on a mobile payment solution dubbed LG Pay. Previous rumors had highlighted that LG wanted to launch its mobile payment service along with the LG G5. However, the company decided to delay the launch of the service.

"LG Electronics has delayed the official launch of LG Pay to the second quarter of this year to help the new LG flagship smartphone — G5 — receive more media attention," said an LG official.

LG is also said to be having troubles testing its mobile payment service, which has added to the delay.

Latest reports suggest that LG has filed another trademark application for Watch Pay — a mobile payment service. Watch Pay could be LG's mobile payment solution.

Rumors are also rife that LG's mobile payment solution could launch along with the LG G6.

LG has neither confirmed any details of the smartwatches nor about Watch Pay, which means customers will have to wait until the company officially confirms the new wearables and the mobile payment solution.
