Activision is in the mood for giving after it announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will get several multiplayer maps for free in time for the holidays. These maps, which should be downloadable by Dec. 13 will effectively expand the title's total to 16 multiplayer maps.
The game publisher has bundled the announcement with a trailer teaser, introducing the new DLCs, namely, Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike, and Wet Work. These are the missing maps that complete the entire range offered in the base game.
These maps would be a treat for Call of Duty veterans as demonstrated in the scenes included in the trailer video.
Remastered Winter Crash
A holiday map variation called Winter Crash has also been thrown in the mix. For reference, this can be found in the latter part of the trailer. This is the map that has Christmas written all over it as evidenced in the Christmas lights strewn about the battle zone.
Winter Crash will also form part of the 24/7 playlist, which Activision will host starting Dec. 20 and will rage on until the holiday is over. There are no comprehensive details released for this element but Activision promised to issue more information in the coming days.
New Game Modes
In addition to the new maps, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will also receive a pair of brand new game modes called Gun Game and Hardpoint. According to Activision, this is the first time they will be made available in the title.
Gun Game is particularly interesting because it is already made available in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance, among others. Essentially, this mode equips player with a pistol, which then gets upgraded after successfully killing an opponent. Death means demotion to the previous weapon. The process continues until someone is able to cycle through the complete set of weapons.
DLCs For Infinite Warfare
Activision also announced what will be in store for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare players. They will get the Genesis Holiday map and other gifts within an upcoming holiday event running from Dec. 21 until New Year's day. A particularly awesome loot involves an epic prototype Hailstorm — Thunder Pistol.
"The Hailstorm — Thunder is extremely shiny (and deadly), and features a three-round burst along with two perks: Whirlwind, which is a fast cycling auto burst that increases recoil, and Focus to reduce idle sway while aiming down sights," Activision stated.
It is important to note that the bonus weapon is only being doled out to players who own both Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops III. To qualify, players should also logged into Black Ops during the event.
