Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered isn't fully available yet (the campaign is available on the PlayStation 4 for those who pre-purchase Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy or Digital Deluxe Editions), but players are already finding neat little changes that set it apart from the original game.
One such change came in the form of brand new cheats. You still unlock cheats the exact same way you would in the original: collecting intel hidden throughout the various levels in the campaign. However, this time around, the intel grants access to four new cheats, such as "Zakhaev's Sons," which replaces every enemy with Victor Zakhaev and equips them with a rocket launcher.
However, fans have now found a new change that really takes the cake: a chance to break the series' timeline and earn a brand-new trophy in the process.
It all starts at the beginning of the One Shot, One Kill mission - the one where you're tasked with sniping Zakhaev. You can complete this objective per usual, but why not take a gander at the jeep in the beginning of the area? Inside, you'll notice two people who are most definitely out of place: Vladimir Makarov and the protagonist from Modern Warfare 3, Yuri. These two were added in as part of the remaster, as they aren't there in the 2007 original.
As you might recall, Makarov was the antagonist in Modern Warfare 2 and 3, and the Yuri from Modern Warfare 3 is obviously the player character from the same game.
So what do you do? Snipe Zakhaev, as before, then quickly snipe Makarov, thus creating a time paradox where the events of MW2 and MW3 didn't occur and earning the player a trophy with the same name: "Time Paradox."
Check out the video below if you want to see a visual demonstration:
Outside of being able to theoretically prevent MW2 and MW3 with a single bullet, what makes this secret so neat is that it's really the series' way of making a reference to itself. Again, as you might recall, in Modern Warfare 3, there's a flashback scene where you're in the jeep when Zakhaev is shot, and you get to watch the events from Yuri's perspective.
Now you get to see who caused that incident to occur: some jerk playing the remastered version of the original Modern Warfare.
At any rate, this is a really cool addition that Infinity Ward and Raven Software included, so it will be interesting to see if players discover any more secrets of its ilk somewhere down the line.
