Pokémon Sun and Moon players have been up and about in catching those shiny Pokémon, and some have even been clocking in hours just to get a shiny version of the starters Rowlet, Litten or Popplio.
On that note, capturing a shiny Pokémon is no easy feat, as the odds of encountering one is said to be one out of 4,096. That means you'll probably spend a lot of time running around patch after patch of tall grass.
However, there's a trick to improve your chances, saving you not only time but also keeping you from having a frustrating experience seeking those rare variants of Pokémon.
How To Catch Shiny Pokémon Easily
Step 1: Gather a couple of items before you set out on your shiny Pokémon venture. Here's what you need:
• Revive and lots of them!
• Potions, Super Potions and any other kind of healing item.
• PP-replenishing items such as Elixirs, Ethers and Berries.
• Adrenaline Orb, the item that'll make things a whole deal easier for you. When it's used in battle, it'll up the chances of a wild Pokémon calling on an ally and start an SOS battle. More on why this is important in a bit.
Note: You can get Adrenaline Orbs at places such as Hau'oli City, Heahea City, Konikoni City, Malie City, Paniola Town, Pokémon League, Royal Avenue, Seafolk Village and Tapu Village.
Step 2: Decide on a shiny Pokémon you want to capture. Choose carefully because even with this method, catching one will take some time, unless you're really lucky.
To help things move along on this part, check out the video below via Kaphotics to get a close look at what the shiny Pokémon variants look like:
Step 3: Go out and search for your target Pokémon, and when you encounter one, use an Adrenaline Orb straight off the bat in battle and then damage it enough until its health is low, but DON'T defeat it completely.
What you want to happen here is for the wild Pokémon to call an ally again and again, a new mechanic introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Using an Adrenaline Orb will boost the likelihood of that occurring.
When the opposing critter's ally arrives, take down one of the two and make the remaining foe call on another friend again.
Step 4: At this point, it's rinse and repeat until a shiny Pokémon comes to the aid of the wild Pokémon.
The chance of a shiny appearing is said to increase the more times the enemy calls an ally, so just keep at it, and it'll likely appear in due time.
Bonus Pro Tip: Get a Pokémon that can learn False Swipe, a move that'll prevent an opposing Pokémon from fainting. That'll really come in handy when you don't want to accidentally defeat an enemy.
That's all there is to it. You can now catch any shiny Pokémon your heart desires, and if you have plenty of time, you can now get them all more easily than before.
It should also be mentioned that shiny Pokémon come in many appearances — some only get a different color scheme such as a black Charizard, while others get more drastic changes such as a Ponyta with blue flames.
