Home automation products maker Nest has started shipping the Nest Cam Outdoor that was announced back in July.
Installing outdoor camera can be challenging as they are exposed to the elements. However, Nest Cam Outdoor has a novel industrial design and it is completely waterproof, which makes it ideal for customers who wants to keep an eye on their homes when they are away. The Nest Cam Outdoor offers full HD (1080p) video quality in all weather conditions.
"Nest Cam provides customers with peace of mind and the ability to stay connected to the things they care most about. Now, Nest Cam Outdoor brings thoughtful security outside of customers' homes, helping them secure their property and giving them more ways to watch over their families, even when they're miles away," says Maxime Veron, the director of hardware product marketing at Nest.
The company launched the original Nest Cam, now called Nest Cam Indoor, in June 2015 and it became an integral part of many homes. The Nest Cam Outdoor is an extension for keeping homes secured from outdoors also.
Nest says that customers can easily install the Nest Cam in simple steps. The camera has a powerful magnetic base that allows users to securely place the Nest Cam Outdoor in more locations.
When installed, the Nest Cam Outdoor provides a 130-degree view. The camera has eight powerful infrared LEDs and its Night Vision illuminates the entire scene. The presence of Nest app allows users to keep an eye on the live video from anywhere and anytime.
The Nest Cam Outdoor has a built-in microphone and speaker that allows users to listen and talk to people in front of the camera. This feature is ideal for those who want to instruct people, for example, a delivery man on how to leave a package.
Subscribers of Nest Aware, who own Dropcam, Nest Cam Outdoor and Nest Cam Indoor, also benefit from continuous recording throughout the day and night. The recordings are stored in the cloud. Starting September, Nest Aware subscribers will also start receiving intelligent alert called person alerts. Subscribers already get sound and motion detection alerts.
Person alert is based on powerful vision algorithms that can precisely detect a human from other objects such as a dog, a car or anything else.
Veron says that intelligent alerts are important to Nest Cam customers, because they want to know about things that are happening in their homes. The latest person alert in a vital addition that will help users to keep their home secured.
Customers can purchase the latest Nest Cam Outdoor for $199. Orders will be shipped within 14 days without additional delivery charges.
