Xbox One now has backward compatibility (BC) support for multi-disc 360 games, even though earlier reports said it was more or less next to impossible.
Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb himself took things to Reddit on the /r/xboxone sub, endorsing this big piece of news that gamers have been clamoring for.
"I can confirm that the BC team has done work to support multi-disc scenarios. Be sure to thank the BC engineers," he says.
For the record, the first multi-disc 360 title to be included in the growing list is none other than Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut, and it joined the catalog earlier this week.
At this point, it should be noted that the Director's Cut version is a lot heftier in size than the original because it has numerous improvements across the board, from amped up graphics and more intelligent AI to revamped boss battles. Needless to say, it had to be split into two discs to accommodate the changes.
Meanwhile, IGN got in touch with Microsoft about this development, finding out that the people behind the BC front are pouring plenty of effort in it.
"We know fans were asking for this feature and our engineers worked hard developing a solution to enable it," a company spokesperson tells the gaming news website.
Now, it's also worth mentioning that Dig Dug, Phantasy Star II, Bit.Trip Presents ... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, Samurai Shodown II and Sonic & Knuckles recently made their way to the backward compatibility roster.
