Those waiting for the debut of wrestling on next-generation consoles will have to wait just a little longer: WWE 2K15 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 has been delayed.
The next-gen version of the game coming from developer Visual Concepts will be coming three weeks later than originally planned, releasing on Nov. 18. WWE 2K15's release date on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 remains unchanged and will be hitting store shelves on Oct. 28.
This new release date just so happens to be the same day the next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V will be released. Both GTA and WWE 2K15 are published by 2K Games.
No specific reason for the delay was given, other than to ensure the quality of the final product.
"The additional development time enables our talented teams to ensure the WWE 2K15 next-gen experience fully meets our expectations," Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts, says in a press release.
What we've seen so far of WWE 2K15 looks stunning. 2K Games released the next-gen entrance sequences for Randy Orton and Goldust close to a month ago, but since then new information and looks at the game have been scarce. A multi-part behind the scenes look at the game provided a glimpse at the motion capture work going into bringing the wrestlers in the game to life as well as a few snippets of in-game footage. 2K has yet to release the second part of the series.
More than 40 wrestlers have been confirmed to appear in the game, and Visual Concepts has teased that more roster reveals will be on the way before the game launches.
The roster so far is as follows: Steve Austin, Sheamus, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Sting, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler, Fandango, Damien Sandow, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Triple H, Antonio Cesaro, Shawn Michaels, Gold Dust, Dean Ambros, Dave Batista, Jimmy Uso, Jay Uso, AJ Lee, Big E Langston, Jack Swagger, Tyson Kidd, Darren Young, Rey Mysterio, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Titus O'Neil, The Rock, Seth Rollins, Kofi Kingston, Lance Archer, Justin Gabriel, Randy Orton, Naomi, Daniel Bryan, Xavier Woods, The Miz, Tamina Snuka, Rob Van Dam, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper, The Undertaker.
Players who pre-order the game at any participating retailer will receive Sting for free on launch day. A limited edition "Hulkmania" version of the game including signed Hulk Hogan memorabilia is also available.
