Naughty Dog outlines some of the juicy details of the highly anticipated game Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, starting things off with the multiplayer modes, maps and DLC — spoiler alert, they're all free.
Multiplayer Modes
Ranked
To make the competitive scene more interesting, the developers intend to add in Ranked. In this mode, players will strive to move up the ladder from Bronze III to Diamond I. To get from one tier to the next, they will have to win a couple of matches and come out on top of the Qualifiers, a set of matches that'll determine who deserves to step up or step down.
Command
In Command, two teams go head-to-head in a bid to collect more points than the opposing squad. Players have two ways to score points: take control of a Command Site for a constant stream of points or take down an enemy Captain for a huge payout.
First off, a team will have to eliminate all enemies in a Command Site to capture it, and the more allies inside, the faster the process will go.
Meanwhile, the Captain of a group is the player who contributed the most points, and to make them harder to subdue, they'll get a couple of perks, including the power to revive teammates more quickly, more health when downed and discounts for in-match items.
The Captain can also go up to Level 3, and the bonuses will get boosted going up, but on the other side of the fence, they will become easier to spot. At Level 1, the enemies will see an icon beside the Captain's name. At Level 2, they can keep track of the Captain in the radar. At Level 3, the Captain will remain Marked until they get knocked out.
Team Deathmatch
Simple enough, Team Deathmatch pits two teams against each other with the objective to score more points than the opposing group, where each enemy is worth one point.
Plunder
To keep the simplicity streak going, Plunder is a game mode that involves getting ahold of the idol and returning it to the treasure chest.
Warm Up Playlist
With all the new gameplay mechanics, the developers will include the Warm Up Playlist to let players get familiar with them before entering the multiplayer fray, but the number of tries is limited.
Trials
This mode is already pretty straightforward: players go toe-to-toe with bots set in a particular multiplayer mechanic to test things out. On an interesting note, there are 10 Trials in total, and the difficulty of each one varies. On top of that, when they're accomplished, they will dish out Relics, the currency used to buy DLC, but more on that in a bit.
DLC Packs
Every present and future DLC won't hold players back by real money, as each one is unlockable via in-game cash called Relics, not to mention that the currency itself can't be earned in any other way aside from doing daily Challenges and winning matches. There will be two DLC Chests to choose from to open up certain content: a DLC Vanity Chest or a DLC Gameplay Chest. In other words, the pay-to-win scheme is out of the picture.
"This means that the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer community won't be fragmented by different types of DLC, and that those who are loyal in participating in the community will be rewarded," Robert Cogburn, lead designer of the game, says.
Cogburn also lists down the DLC roadmap, revealing that there will be enough content to last until spring of 2017 and Co-op mode will be rolling out in fall of 2016. That means there's already a ton of stuff in store for players everywhere.
It should be noted that players can still avail Uncharted Points and use them to get ahold of weapons and vanity items ahead of their release, but none will be exclusive down the road.
The Triple Pack
Gamers who availed the Triple Pack or the Digital Deluxe Edition will get the first single-player add-on in the game's history and two multiplayer packs to boot. The first multiplayer pack includes a Long Gun, a Booster, a Skin, a Hat and a Taunt, while the second consists of a Pistol, a Booster, a Mystical, a Hat and a Taunt.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been delayed numerous times already, but it's expected to finally go official in a few days' time on May 10.
