Apple posted a new 30-second iPhone ad to honor Mother's Day.
The latest ad, titled "Shot on iPhone - Mother's Day," contains a number of images and videos taken by iPhone owners showing mothers and their children. The ad plays the song "Because You Are Who You Are" by K.S. Rhoads in the background.
Apple started the "Shot on iPhone" campaign in March 2015 to highlight the camera quality of iPhones. Capturing photos and videos via smartphones has become one of the most important functions of mobile phones and Apple has been constantly improving the camera of its handsets.
The iPhone 6 that was launched in September 2014 was equipped with an 8-megapixel (f/2.2 lens) rear-facing camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. However, the camera of the next-generation iPhone 6s was significantly beefed up. The iPhone 6s has a 12-megapixel (f/2.2 lens) primary camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
Moreover, Apple also introduced Live Photos with the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, which brings a new photo-taking experience to users.
"The 12-megapixel iSight camera captures sharp, detailed photos. It takes brilliant 4K video, up to four times the resolution of 1,080p HD video. iPhone 6s also takes selfies worthy of a self-portrait with the new 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera. And it introduces Live Photos, a new way to relive your favorite memories. It captures the moments just before and after your picture and sets it in motion with just the press of a finger," says Apple.
Reports suggest that 42 percent of photos posted on Flickr are from Apple iPhones, followed by Canon DSLRs (27 percent) and Nikon DSLRs (16 percent). The iPhone 5s and the iPhone 6 were the top iPhones used for posting images on Flickr. However, the launch of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus will have an impact on these figures in the near term.
Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in many parts of the world including the United States. This year Mother's Day will be celebrated on May 8. The latest Apple advert in honor of mothers is not just a reminder of the upcoming event but also a highlight of the top-end camera capabilities of the iPhones.
Apple has also launched the 4-inch iPhone SE, which has the same camera capabilities as the high-end iPhone 6s. The iPhone SE has a starting price tag of $399 and the handset can also be a great Mother's Day gift idea.
