Earlier in the year, there were rumors that Microsoft was planning to release several Xbox One exclusives for Windows 10 PCs. It was said that Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3 will be released for Windows 10 in addition to the Xbox One, with Microsoft preparing a Windows 10 version of Forza Motorsport 6.
It seems that one part of the rumors were true. The Windows 10 open beta for Forza Motorsport 6: Apex will launch on May 5, marking the debut of the racing franchise on the PC.
The title, which was designed specifically for Windows 10, will combine the capabilities of DirectX 12 with the expertise and ForzaTech engine of Turn 10 Studios to deliver Forza's acclaimed gameplay to PC gamers.
Forza Motorsport 6: Apex will run on resolutions of up to 4K, which will show the stellar content of the title in the best way possible. The game includes 63 vehicles and 20 track configurations across six locations, including wet-weather and night variants.
Also featured in Forza Motorsport 6: Apex are new mechanics, including a new Race Points system that rewards gamers for turning off assists, which will develop their racing skills and prepare them for even harder challenges. The game will also come with a new list of Xbox Live achievements for players to earn.
During the open beta for the title, Turn 10 will be accumulating data to make improvements to the game's performance across different types of Windows 10 systems. Improvements and updates will continue to arrive for the title, such as support for wheel controllers and the addition of an in-app frame rate counter and the ability to disable VSync.
The recommended system requirements for a Windows 10 PC to run Forza Motorsport 6: Apex are a 3.6 GHz Intel Core i7-3820 processor, either the Nvidia GeForce 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290X GPU, 30 GB of HD space, 12 GB of RAM and 4 GB of VRAM.
