Now that Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, after one of the its most-hyped product launches in four years, let's take a look at some of its best features.
Apple showed off its new flagship iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones at the company's media event Tuesday afternoon.
Both smartphones feature an all-new ultra-thin design, powerful specs, and impressive features. But that's just the start of the upgrades that will likely create long lines at Apple stores and carrier sites.
Here are the top three reasons to get in line:
Storage: There were rumors Apple was planning on offering a new 128-GB storage option for its larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 leading up to its official announcement. Apple confirmed those rumors and also had a surprise up its sleeve. The company is offering the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus in three storage capacities -- 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB.
Price: Prior to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus' unveiling, reports claimed that since both smartphones would ship with larger displays than previous iPhone models, Apple was planning to increase the price on both models. Apple has kept the same pricing as previous flagship models, but doubled the storage of the 32 GB. Pricing is as follows, $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 64 GB, and $399 for 128 GB. The larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus carries a $100 premium over its smaller sibling and is priced at $299 for 16 GB, $399 for 64 GB, and $499 for 128 GB. These prices require a new 2-year contract.
Design: Apple's phrase for describing the new iPhone form factor is "Bigger than Bigger," and it fulfills on that slogan. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are Apple's largest iPhones to date and feature an all-new design. While the new iPhones are large, Apple has been able to keep both devices ultra-thin and it's a true testament to Apple's design prowess. The iPhone 6's dimensions are 5.44 x 2.64 x 0.27 inches (138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm) and it weighs 4.55 oz (129 g). The iPhone 6 Plus' dimensions are 6.22 x 3.06 x 0.28 inches (158 x 77.7 x 7.1 mm) and it weighs 6.07 oz (172 g).
As a reminder, Apple will begin taking preorders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Sept. 12 and the smartphones will go on sale on Sept. 19.
