Apple officially announced its next-generation iPhone 6 at its media event Tuesday. The company launched the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
After months of speculation and multiple reports laying out the details of Apple's new iPhone 6, Tim Cook and company took the stage and officially announced the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
The iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD Display with a resolution of 1334 x 750, a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi), and has more than 1 million pixels. The iPhone 6 is ultra thin at 6.9mm. Its camera capabilities consist of an 8-megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash and digital image stabilization. Apple claims the iPhone 6 battery will provide up to 50 hours of audio, 11 hours of video and Wi-Fi browsing, and 14 hours of 3G talk time.
The iPhone 6 Plus features a 5.5-inch Retina HD Display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch (ppi), and has more than 2 million pixels. The iPhone 6 Plus is thinner than last year's iPhone 5s, coming in at 7.1mm compared with the iPhone 5s' 7.6mm. The iPhone 6 Plus' camera capabilities consist of an 8-megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash and OIS (optical image stabilization). Apple claims the iPhone 6 Plus will get up to 80 hours of audio, 14 hours of video, 12 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, and 24 hours of 3G talk time.
Apple has announced that it will begin taking preorders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Sept. 12 and has priced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as follows:
iPhone 6 -- 16 GB $199, 64 GB $299, and 128 GB $399 when signing a new 2-year contract.
iPhone 6 Plus - 16 GB $299, 64 GB $399, and 128 GB $499 when signing a new 2-year contract.
