Bungie Unveils New PlayStation-Exclusive Weapon For 'Destiny'

For gamers playing Destiny on the PlayStation 3 or 4, a new exotic weapon will soon make its first appearance in-game.

Bungie recently announced that the Zen Meteor sniper rifle will arrive with the game's April 12 update for those Destiny players with PlayStation consoles. The update will also feature new game content, including a strike, new gear and a new consumable.

PlayStation announced the arrival of the new weapon on its Twitter account:

PlayStation also tweeted some images of the rifle in action.

But what's the perk of the new rifle? So far, Bungie has only hinted about its capabilities, but it seems that the rifle will have some sort of fire element, given its name and the photos in the above tweet. Destiny senior gameplay designer Jon Weisnewski also hinted the gun's incendiary abilities on Twitter by using flaming emojis after being asked about it.

Bungie hopes to attract players back to Destiny with the large April update, which will also offer a new mission and a new strike. The company recently provided several live previews of some of the other items on offer with the new update, including new armor, new weapons, new ways to get loot and new ships.

In their "New Things To Do" Twitch stream, Bungie outlined the new story that the update brings to the game to those gamers who purchased "The Taken King" expansion. That update also announced that the game will raise maximum light, as well as offer new levels for Prison of Elders.

In its "New Things To Earn" livestream, Bungie offered more details about the new armor and weapons that the April update brings to the game. The company also offered details about the new Sterling Treasure boxes that are a source of "new Armor, Chroma, Ships, Sparrows and Boosts." Some Year One legendary weapons will also return to the game.

Bungie's update for Destiny will arrive on April 12, including the PlayStation-exclusive Zen Meteor sniper rifle. Good luck, guardians!
