Xbox Live Games With Gold April 2016: Free Games With Backward Compatibility And More

Xbox players can start preparing for a new set of free games featuring backward compatibility, as the April Live Games With Gold offer is almost here.

Just as in March, two dedicated titles will land on the Xbox One and two on Xbox 360, with backward compatibility to boot.

Additionally, Xbox 360 games can be purchased via Games with Gold, straight on your Xbox One. You can do so by just going to the Gold slot on your Xbox One and choosing your desired games from the Gold Members Area.

For Xbox One, the narrative arch gurus at Telltale Games delivered the unanimously commended adventure The Wolf Among Us. Respected developer Insomniac Games rolled out the trippy Sunset Overdrive.

Xbox 360 owners who are also Xbox Live Gold subscribers can start their April gaming with EA's much-appreciated Dead Space, and to top that they can also wreak havoc in the open-world action-adventure Saints Row IV.

All the titles will be open for free purchase for a limited period, as it is the custom in the Games with Gold system. Make sure you take full advantage of the limited-time offer.

On Xbox One, members of Xbox Live Gold can get The Wolf Among Us for free between April 1 and April 30, saving the normal cost of $24.99, while Sunset Overdrive comes at no charge and saves you $22.99 between April 16 and May 15.

On Xbox 360, Dead Space is free between April 1 and April 15, discounted from a regular cost of $14.99, while Saints Row IV is free between April 16 to April 30, down from its regular price of $34.99.

For those who are unfamiliar with the games from April's offer, read on.

Sunset Overdrive is what you get when you mix Tony Hawk's skating games with third-person shooter action and a massive dosage of acrobatic actions, such as climbing and parkour-style moves. It has color, great humor and characters that stay with you long after you've put the controller down. Sunset Overdrive also sports a very popular multiplayer mode, making it a public favorite.

The Wolf Among Us will elicit quite a bit of deeper thinking. It is up to you to solve a series of unusual murders happening in 1980s Manhattan, where a vile character takes away the lives of fairy tale creatures. The catch? The characters are all disguising themselves, just as the Big Bad Wolf, as humans.

"One of the most addictive episodic gaming experiences ever," Xbox adverts the game.

Saints Row IV, which lands on Xbox 360 and Xbox One (thank you, thank you backward compatibility!) will put the player in the shoes of the Boss, a mastermind who has to use his gang of misfits to counter an alien invasion. The open-world cocktail takes inspiration from the myriad of similar games before it but adds a new spin to the gameplay experience. With bits and pieces of action, martial arts, adventure and insane elements, the game makes sure you are never bored or relaxed.

Finally, Dead Space is coming to Xbox 360 (and Xbox One, implicitly). The sci-fi game ranks very high in the top of pulse-pounding adventures. You are Isaac Clarke, a space engineer - who wakes up alone on an (apparently) deserted space station. From the first few minutes in the game, you can tell that something eerie is at place there. It is up to you to discover what that is, and rest assured that the horrific visuals hold a candle to today's titles.

Those who were paying attention were able to get Lords of the Fallen and Borderlands during the March Games with Gold period.
