Samsung's latest Unpacked presentation has come into view out over the horizon, but a series of teaser videos and purported images of the incoming Galaxy Note 4 are making the last leagues of the journey a difficult wait for many tech enthusiasts.
Ready to Note? Samsung asks that in the five YouTube videos brightened with colorful loyalists to the Galaxy Note series. Each of the videos in the YouTube campaign offer a glimpse into a Note user's life, but no sneak peeks at the inbound phablet.
A 15-sec video has been circulating on YouTube, displaying a phone it says is the Note 4. The video, uploaded by a Dutch-language tech site, shows a user furiously tapping at the phone's unresponsive display.
The device in the video appears to be running Android KitKat and a Note stylus is resting near the phone, but the video reveals little else about the authenticity of the handset and offers no details about the Note 4 beyond what's already leaked.
In another purported leak, a render of what's said to be the Note 4 has been making its rounds along the Internet's highways and making stops on the pages of tech sites. The render depicts a handset that looks much like the Galaxy Note 3, but there's little to derive from the image of what may be an early concept of the Note 4 or fan's imagination.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to feature a display that has a resolution of 2560 x 1440, according to data mined from a user agent's profile. The phablet is expected to include 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of long-term storage space.
Samsung is projected to unveil the Note 4 at three Samsung Unpacked events on Sept. 3. IFA 2014 in Berlin will serve as a stage for one of the Unpacked events, while the other two will occur in Beijing and New York.
Meanwhile, rival Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 6 days later at a press event on Sept. 9. If the iPhone 6's release date isn't pushed back due to a late-in-production revision to the device's display, Apple is projected to launch the 4.7-inch version of the phone and announce a release date for the 5.5-inch version of the smartphone.
Apple has already begun issuing invites to its "major press event" in its hometown of Cupertino, Calif. The event will be held at the larger Flint Center for Performing Arts, rather than on the Apple campus, so a crowd is expected.
"wish we could tell you more," states text on the invites.
Here's a look at a video that's circulating of the purported Note 4, from a Dutch-language tech site.
