Bethesda has just released the first downloadable content for its massive hit adventure-shooter Fallout 4, which lets players take on hordes of robot enemies and even build their own mechanized companions as well.
The game's Automatron DLC is readily available to customers who own Fallout 4's season pass. The expansion will automatically be downloaded and installed by their gaming consoles or PCs. However, there is also an option to manually get the new content.
PC users can download the DLC by logging in to their Steam account. They need to access the account's library and right-click on the option for Fallout 4.
From there, they have to select "View Downloadable Content" and make sure that checkbox for "Install" is enabled before the download for the game expansion can start. If the download doesn't start immediately, customers may have to uncheck and re-check the option in order to launch the action.
Gamers who play Fallout 4 on their PlayStation 4 consoles can get the Automatron DLC by navigating its Library and choosing the game title there. This will take them to Fallout 4's product page, where they need to select the "Related Items" option and then "My Add-ons".
The download icon for the DLC can be found on the left side of the page. Selecting it will launch the game's download.
Xbox One users can download Automatron by going to the "Home" screen of their consoles and launching the "My Games and Apps" menu. This can be done by holding down the "RT" button on the Xbox controller and pressing the "A" button.
Look for Fallout 4 and then press "Menu". From here, choose the "Manage Game" option and select the DLC on the "Ready to Install" column to start the download.
Once the Automatron expansion is installed, players can initiate the new content by listening in for a particular in-game distress signal using the Radio section on the Pip-Boy. The signal will appear as "Caravan Distress Call", and activating it will start the quest "Mechanical Menace".
If followed, the distress signal will take players to a location east of Watts Consumer Electronics, where a group of robots are being attacked. Those who are unfamiliar with this area of the game can find it by searching north of the CIT ruins and the Institute.
The game will then provide players with a few objectives related to the quest. Finishing them will unlock the additional features from the Automatron expansion.
