The CW seems to be a network that has faith in its scripted series even when some of the numbers are going low because it just announced that its 11 currently airing series have been renewed for another season!
The network's current line up include the incredible DC Superhero titles: "The Flash," "Arrow," "DC's Legends of Tomorrow;" "The Vampire Diaries" and its spin-off, "The Originals," the period drama "Reign," the comedies "Jane the Virgin" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," the post-apocalyptic series "The 100," loose comic book adaptation "iZombie" and the longest-running show in the bunch, "Supernatural."
Usually, networks would just axe a show even in the middle of a season if the numbers dip a little so The CW's move is not only uncommon but also a very remarkable move that would definitely earn the gratitude of fans who were worried about their favorite shows' fate.
A good thing about CW's renewals is that, for the shows whose rating are not doing too well- "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals," the showrunners can now either give it everything they've got and redeem themselves by reviving the people's enthusiasm for the show or turn the opportunity into a series finale since they have been given the chance to gracefully bow out instead of suddenly getting axed.
"As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017," The CW President Mark Pedowitz said.
With the Summer roster complete and The CW's knack of announcing its new shows and renewals earlier than expected, it is only a matter of time until we hear about the line-up for Fall.
