'Fallout Shelter' Update 1.4: Crafting, Weapons Straight From 'Fallout 4', New Rooms, And More

Bethesda's Fallout Shelter, a mobile game spinoff of the Fallout series, has seen massive success. After the game's release in June 2015, the game has continuously grown in popularity, a surprising development for the company's first-ever mobile game.

Bethesda has said that it has seen the potential of the mobile gaming market, and so it is now planning to make more mobile games in the future.

For now, however, Bethesda is focused on Fallout Shelter as its only mobile game, with the company releasing update 1.4 for the title.

The update is said to be the biggest one yet for the game, which introduces several new features.

The first new feature for Fallout Shelter is crafting, which is a mainstay in the Fallout franchise. Through crafting, players will be able to transform useless junk into useful ones such as armor and weapons. In connection, the update also introduced new rooms to Fallout Shelter, namely the Armor and Weapon rooms for crafting.

How will players acquire the junk that they can use for crafting? Junk can now be obtained as the bonus 5th card in lunchboxes, and dwellers that go out of the shelter to explore can also bring back junk.

In addition to the Armor and Weapon crafting rooms, the update also brings the new Barbershop room, so that players can customize the looks of all their dwellers.

Fallout 4, the latest installment in the franchise, will now also be more prominent in Fallout Shelter, as Outfits and Weapons from the game will be found in lunchboxes, in the wastes, and are available for crafting.

The update also added new Dogs and Cats to Fallout Shelter, in addition to Parrots as a new Pet option along with new Pet bonuses.

Lastly, update 1.4 also makes the game properly reflect what time of the day it is.

The blog post that introduced Fallout Shelter's update 1.4 also mentioned that the game has received Best of 2015 awards from Google and Apple, along with several mobile gaming awards.

The game is free to download for both iOS and Android. The title also does not require in-app purchases to progress into the game, which is one of the reasons why Fallout Shelter has maintained its popularity.
