Sony is unquestionably in the process of expanding its presence in the highly competitive American smartphone market. While Sony has yet to verify the existence of the purported Xperia C6, with a bezel-free full HD display, a new render of the device has once more cropped up, showing off new, interesting details.
The render (which is said to be based on the phone’s factory schematics) was leaked out by @OnLeaks, which has a pretty good track record for its leaks.
Specifications
From the looks of it, it appears that the device is likely to bear some resemblance to the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra, the firm’s mid-range phone that it unveiled last year, rocking a near bezel-less 6-inch screen. While we don't know yet how large the display of the Xperia C6 is, word has it, however, that it is certainly not smaller than 5 inches (and it'll be a little more than 5.5 inches). At any rate, rumor is rife that the Xperia C6 is assumed to feature a 1080p display.
What’s noteworthy with the leaked render is that the new Sony Xperia C6 will come with an assortment of color options – customers who will decide to go for Sony's upcoming offering will have the option to pick from at least three color variations.
Under the hood, the device is going to house an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 chipset, suggesting that it won't hit the high-end segment of the smartphone market.
A couple of weeks ago, another familiar-looking nameless Sony Xperia device leaked courtesy of IT168. While facts are scarce the moment, images of this phone surfaced and rumor has it that there’s a big possibility that this could already be the next-generation of C-series Xperia devices.
Much like the Xperia C5 Ultra, this new device also boasts the identical almost bezel-free screen plus the rounded metal sides with the side-mounted round power button. It is expected, though, that the device will not be loaded with a fingerprint scanner. It might be interesting to find out which of these specs and features turn out to be accurate when the device hits the market.
If the rumor turns out to be true, this device could face plenty of competition from rivals such as the Moto X Play, One Plus 2, Honor 5X and Wileyfox Storm.
Price And Release Date
At least one source claims that the phone could come out during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona, which is pegged to kick off toward the end of next month. The phone is assumed to go toe-to-toe with other handsets, including the LG G5. We have yet to hear, though, how much this device will cost.
Bottom Line
If you’ve toyed with the idea of getting a new mid-range handset, this one from Sony could be among your choices.
Since not much is known yet about this new device, and all are just assumptions based on leaks and hearsay, it is safe to file this story under the rumor category for now.
We’ll be sure, though, to keep you updated on any Xperia C6 news as it becomes available.
