Sony Outs Cherry Blossom-Inspired Xperia Z5 Pink

Sony has given a fresh lease of life to its flagship Xperia Z5 smartphone, which boasts one of the best camera's in the business, by releasing it in the color of the season - rose quartz.

The arrival of something mysterious in pink on Jan. 12 was being teased by the Japanese company on its Instagram account for the past few days.

"There are many shades of beauty. Follow us to discover our latest work of art on 12.01.16," teased Sony Mobile with the image of a pink-hued make-up kit.

The cryptic post was followed by that of pink balloons with the message "A pop of something new calls for a celebration! Follow us to find out what's coming on 12.01.16."

"Style is what you make it. And we make ours beautifully. Follow us to see our latest statement. 12.01.16," shared Sony Mobile a few hours prior to spilling the beans.

The Japanese company also subtly hinted that the mysterious object in the offing would be inspired by Japan's Sakura cherry blossom as it posted the following:

The veil of mystery surrounding Sony's plans was finally lifted on Tuesday, Jan. 12, when the company took the wraps off the Sakura-inspired pink Xperia Z5 smartphone.

This is not the first time Sony Mobile has outed a pink-hued smartphone. In 2015, the company's Xperia Z1 compact was made available in a hot pink color. In December 2015, rumors were rife that Sony Mobile was poised to release a pink-colored Xperia Z5. The leaked images hinted at a January launch in Taiwan for the variant, in time for the Chinese New Year.

The dusty pink Xperia Z5 smartphone is poised for a February release. It seems Sony Mobile is eyeing Valentine's Day sales. The arrival of the "dusky pink" smartphone will give consumers four hues to choose from for the Xperia Z4, the other three colors being black, green and white.

"We knew we wanted to add pink to the Z5 series from our very first moodboards and sketches as it seemed to compliment the colour palette to the rest of the range," says Rikke Gertsen Constein, lead designer of the project.

However, the team took time to zone in on the right tone which would complement the aluminum frame and frosted glass. The designers took inspiration from nature including the Sakura cherry blossom to arrive at the light dusk pink hue which is both "modern" and "strong."
