There are hundreds of multiplayer titles available across gaming consoles but only a few capture the excitement of real gamer geeks. One of the more popular ones is Call of Duty. This first-person and third-person shooter video game, which began on the PC, is now available on various handhelds and consoles.
The latest version, the Call of Duty Advanced: Warfare multiplayer, was recently shown off in a trailer. A new trailer is uploaded each year and it's no different this 2014.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has yet to be available this coming fall but it's been receiving early reviews and criticisms. The multiplayer version is said to change a bit this year. Actually, it looks a whole lot different--somewhat a mash up of a number of games. Others say it doesn't look much like Call of Duty and that it is similar to Titanfall.
The approach to the multiplayer is different that weapons are more arcade-like, player movement is like Quake, and has been upgraded with parkour, jetpacks, and double jumps.
Looking at the maps, they look like Battlefield 4. There's also class system and player customization like Destiny. Overall, the design is similar to Black Ops II.
On the other hand, Titanfall was tagged as "Call of Duty with mechs" last year at the E3 2013. Titanfall was released first so a lot can be said about the new Call of Duty and vice versa.
Developer Sledgehammer unveiled new reversal mechanisms into the CoD formula but some actions are similar to what can be done in Titanfall.
Of course, all these criticisms are only based on a single game trailer but early game testers are saying almost the same thing. Gameplay can be likened to Titanfall but is slower.
Once the video game is officially released, gamers can do a side-by-side comparison of the Call of Duty and Titanfall. Real gamers will easily identify the similarities and differences but it's exciting to see which one will come out on top.
Is the idea surprising? Actually, no, because Respawn Entertainment which created Titanfall was started by Vince Zampella and Jason West, founders of Infinity Ward, developers of Call of Duty.
