'Arrested Development' Season 5 To Be In Vein Of 'Making A Murderer'

It seems like everyone has become a fan of Netflix's true crime series Making a Murderer. In fact, Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz enjoyed it so much that he is wants season 5 of the series to be a murder mystery.

We already know that the 17-episode new season of Arrested Development is slated to be released on Netflix, although the exact date is still not yet known.

Part of the reason we don't have a release date is because development of the show's next chapter is still in the works. According to Deadline, Hurwitz is currently working on season 5, with plans to have it released before the presidential elections in November.

If you recall, in season 4 Lindsay Bluth (Portia de Rossi) was on a mission to close the borders, and gained so much public support that she decided to run as a Republican candidate. In this case, life is imitating art, as now Donald Trump attempts to take over the White House.

But writing the script has been at a halt thus far, mainly because contract negotiations with the cast regarding scheduling are still under way, so Hurwitz does not yet know which characters will be remaining. Once the cast is settled, he will write the script.

Hurwitz also revealed that he had to can some ideas, such as having Geroge (Jeffrey Tambor) become a woman because Amazon's Transparent entered the scene. In Transparent, Tambor plays a transgender woman, Maura.

Still, Hurwitz is writing away, with the rising popularity of the true crime genre serving as an inspiration. Deadline reported that Hurwitz is a big fan of Netflix's Making a Murderer, and that season 5 will likely be a spin off of some sort of the series.

This would make perfect sense since season 4 of Arrested Development ended (Warning! Spoiler ahead) with Buster being arrested for the murder of Lucille Austero.

Hurwitz said he hopes to start production on season 5 of Arrested Development soon.
