Apple just released a new one-minute ad that features the fourth-generation Apple TV and a slew of apps and content on the tvOS.
The new commercial is titled "The Future of Television," a phrase that Apple CEO Tim Cook has used before when referring to the apps on the Apple TV. It exhibits a couple of clips from TV shows and movies, including "Orange Is the New Black," "The Muppets," "Grand Budapest Hotel," "Game of Thrones," "The Simpsons," "The Colbert Report," "Ant-Man," "Wizard of Oz," "Inside Out," "Rocky," "The Martian" and "Veep."
The ad showcases the gaming possibilities on the Apple TV as well, giving the spotlight to Disney Infinity 3.0, Guitar Hero and Asphalt Racing.
Apple also threw in how the Apple Music integration would function on the set-top box, with Kendrick Lamar headlining the feature.
The video then shows how navigation works on the platform, displaying a ton of apps that include Netflix, Hulu, Flickr and many others. To top them all off, the beloved virtual assistant Siri makes an appearance around the 10-second mark, where she's asked for the "best sci-fi movies" followed by "only the new ones," changing the results accordingly to the voice command.
Apple did a bang-up job on the ad, making clever transitions such as shifting from the gaming segment with Guitar Hero to the music portion. Despite having no words uttered at all — just a jolly theme playing in the background — the Cupertino brand explained the features of the Apple TV well, namely how people can binge watch on their favorite shows on apps like Netflix, play games such as Asphalt Racing and shop online on stores like Gilt.
With the assortment of apps and features, the price seems right, where the fourth-generation Apple TV is available at $149 for the 32 GB model and $199 for the 64 GB model.
