Apple TV has improved just in time for the holidays.
On Tuesday, the tech company announced the release of tvOS 9.1 for the new Apple TV — betas for which enable Siri to control Apple Music. That's great news for the holidays, considering Apple originally said Siri-controlled Apple Music would be available for Apple TV by early next year.
Equipped with Siri support now, tvOS 9.1 is ready to take voice-activated commands as of Tuesday. Another feature that Apple rolled out Tuesday is its Remote app working with Apple TV for the first time.
The introduction of the Remote app will allow users to type input on iPhones and iPads to make setup for Apple TV that much easier. 9 to 5 Mac also reports that Apple Watch's built-in Remote app works with Apple TV as well.
Updating to the latest version of the new Apple TV is simple. Go to the user Settings channel, then to System and look for Software Updates under Maintenance. From there, choose Update Software, Download and Install. Once your Apple TV is brought to tvOS 9.1, you'll need to restart the system to complete the update.
Being able to call on Siri to control your holiday playlist on Apple TV is a pretty good deal — one that is certain to be received as welcome news by existing Apple TV owners and potential buyers alike.
