The release of Rainbow Six Siege is six days away, and Ubisoft was hoping to run a few more tests by having an open beta for the game from Nov. 25 to 29 across all platforms.
Sounds like a solid plan. The only problem is that the beta has now been delayed. In a post on Ubisoft's forums, a Ubisoft community manager filled in players on the status of the missing-in-action open beta.
"We're currently seeing issues with matchmaking times and disconnection on all platforms," the community manager writes. "As such we're postponing the Open Beta until a later time and keeping the game under Closed Beta status. We apologize for the delay and can assure you this is our top priority. We will keep everyone updated regularly as we continue to deploy improvements."
No word was given on whether or not fans could expect the beta to open up later today or if it might be delayed until tomorrow or later. Either way, it's not a good scenario for Ubisoft. The full retail release of Rainbow Six Siege is Dec. 1. With a mere six days left, Ubisoft is apparently struggling to get the game's online components to work. Considering Rainbow Six Siege lacks a single-player campaign and is all multiplayer driven, that's a major problem.
Let's hope Ubisoft can get the game's problems sorted out before release day, with the beta going up sooner rather than later.
