Idris Elba Stars In New Live-Action 'Rainbow Six Siege' Ad As Ubisoft Announces Open Beta

Ubisoft's latest Rainbow Six title might not have a story mode, but that isn't stopping the publisher from bringing in some big names to help promote the game. The latest is British actor Idris Elba, who, in a new live-action ad, helps explain the finer points of Rainbow Six Siege's combat.

Titled "Siege the Day," the ad features Elba giving viewers a tour of the destruction as a team of Rainbow Six operators breach a terrorist-filled recreation of the game's House map. As walls are shattered and doors are breached, Elba keeps his cool, explaining how, in the world of Rainbow Six, you need bullets as well as brains to claim victory. Elba also appears in a series of featurettes titled "The Laws of Siege" that go more in-depth with the various mechanics players will be using in the game to come out on top. You can watch the full ad at the bottom of this article.

However, the Elba ad isn't the only announcement to come from Ubisoft. The developer has revealed an open beta will go live for the game on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC starting on Nov. 25 and run through Nov. 29. The full game will then release on Dec. 1 on all platforms.

Ubisoft also recently detailed all that will be included in the game's season pass. All post-launch maps and operators will be free for all players, but those who purchase the game's $29.99 season pass will get early access to each DLC pack, a five percent increase in the amount of in-game Renown currency earned by playing, as well as 600 R6 credits, the game's premium currency that can be purchased with real cash. Season pass owners will also have more challenges to complete as well as receive a number of exclusive weapon skins.
