You never know what could happen in WWE.
Already the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and gaining momentum as arguably the best current superstar in pro-wrestling, Seth Rollins will have to vacate his title after tearing his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus during a WWE live event in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday night. He's expected to miss six to nine months of action.
The devastating news was revealed by former WWE announcer and current ESPN SportsCenter anchor Jonathan Coachman on Twitter ... perhaps furthering World Wrestling Entertainment's involvement with the Worldwide Leader in Sports.
Coachman also mentioned that, as a result of Rollins' injury, his WWE World Heavyweight title will be put up for grabs in a tournament to be held at Survivor Series on Nov. 22. Before the injury, The Architect was slated to put the strap on the line against Roman Reigns, his former partner with The Shield, at the pay-per-view event.
With the announcement, Coachman also shared a gruesome shot of the moment Rollins suffered the damage in his right knee.
You can't help but feel bad for Rollins, who was at the top of his game, in addition to WWE and the WWE Universe. Not only must Rollins endure months of rehab, but WWE has to plan for its future without Rollins, and whether that means putting the strap on Reigns remains to be seen.
However, Rollins has struck a real chord with the fans, and it is going to be hard to go without him during these months.
