Bungie wasn't kidding around on the "hard" part and "exclusive" loot when Destiny went live with its Crota's End raid on hard mode that it even frustrated a "The Simpsons" casting associate, Nick Conti. On Oct. 25, during the credits of the animated series' "Treehouse of Horror" episode where the cast and crew are usually given Halloween nicknames, Conti expressed his dissatisfaction through the moniker he used.
Halfway the closing credits, Nick Conti's name flashed as "NICK 'NECROCHASM' CONTI" and underneath, the parenthetical statement "still don't have it" was written. A "The Simpsons" and Destiny fan spotted the reference and quickly posted about it on social media and Bungie, the developer of Destiny, picked it up and posted a screen capture of the credits on its official Twitter with a message thanking Conti for the shout out and wishing him luck with finally getting the elusive exotic auto rifle.
The Necrochasm was added in "The Dark Below," Destiny's first downloadable content (DLC) pack known for having a high stability and deals Arc damage. It is the final evolution of the "Husk of the Pit" rifle and the "Crux of Crota," the very material needed to reach the final evolution, is a very rare drop in the DLC and is only available when played on hard mode.
Bungie also launched a Halloween event for Destiny titled "Festival of the Lost," which will run from Oct. 26 to Nov. 9. Players will be able to collect 16 masks by completing quests and wearing the masks while defeating enemies gives off more rewards. Candies are also available as temporary buffs and a new map, "Cathedral of the Dusk," has been opened to all players for the duration of the Festival but will be permanently available to those who own Destiny: The Taken King.
Destiny is available to play on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
