'The Simpsons: Treehouse Of Horror XXVI' Couch Gag Gets Twisted Makeover From ‘Ren & Stimpy’ Creator

If you were a fan of vulgar, offensive and overall adult animation in the '90s, Ren & Stimpy was required viewing. The show's creator, John Kricfalusi, had a distinct style that brought surreal obscenities to the screen every week for children of the world to be corrupted by, and it's been beloved by an entire generation of now-twisted adults ever since.

Since the demise of Ren & Stimpy, Kricfalusi has been pretty low-key, with his most public work being a couch gag on The Simpsons a few years back.

Well, he's returned with another one, but this time his work is on the show's biggest stage: the annual "Treehouse of Horror" special.

In this new couch gag, America's favorite animated family is reimagined as a clan of squiggly-lined monstrosities, but fans of Kricfalusi wouldn't have it any other way. The old Ren & Stimpy flavor is in every frame, and it's obvious this is not Matt Groening's world ... at least for this minute and a half. And when that grotesque monster reaches into Homer's mouth and pulls out his very essence? Pure Kricfalusi.

Check out the couch gag before the "Treehouse of Horror" special airs this Sunday:

If you need even more John K madness in your life, here's his original couch gag from a few seasons back:
