Netflix has been getting us ready for the release of it's new original series Jessica Jones by slowly giving us some insight to what we can expect through teasers and photos of the cast on set.
And then on Thursday, Netflix debuted the key art for the new show that will premiere in less than a month in a motion poster that takes after the style of David Mack's work for the comic books.
Along with the poster, the streaming platform said it will release the first trailer on Friday, and staying true to its promise, it's finally here.
In the first trailer, we are introduced to Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), who is a private eye by day and superhero by night. She is able to look for the worst in people, and we see how slightly unhinged this character is. Her powers include the ability to punch through walls and stop "a slow-moving car."
We learn that there is someone out there who has the ability to make people do what he wants—such as taking their own lives or the lives of others—and this dark force is coming back for Jones.
"You have no idea what I've done. What he made me do," she says as we see her with blood on her hands.
We are also introduced to Mike Colter (Luke Cage), who warns her that being a hero puts a target on your back.
In a montage, we see some of the victims this dark force has an effect on, proving that we are in for one hell of a ride.
The official synopsis of Jessica Jones is as follows:
After a tragic ending to her short-lived superhero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
The series premieres Nov. 20 on Netflix. Watch the first Jessica Jones trailer below.
