With next month seeing the release of Netflix's Marvel series Jessica Jones, the subscription service has ramped up promotions for the series, including releasing a series of trailers giving a hint as to what viewers can expect from the title character.
The first teaser showed Jessica (Krysten Ritter) waking up to a beeping alarm clock: the former superheroine crushes it with her bare hand. The second teaser shows Jessica walking through what was once a barroom brawl to pour herself a drink, while Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" plays on a jukebox in the background.
This latest teaser, though, shows some of the setting behind Jessica Jones: Hell's Kitchen, New York. In this new video, Jessica walks through the streets of the city and then uses her superhero abilities to jump up to the 5th floor of a building, which has a sign for Alias Investigations.
In Marvel Comics, Alias Investigations is Jessica's private eye agency.
As previously announced, this clip shows that the Netflix series picks up after Jessica has hung up her superhero identity after a nasty run-in with Zebediah Killgrave, aka the Purple Man. However, because Netflix unveiled that it cast David Tennant as the Purple Man in the series, it's obvious that in its series, the character isn't done with Jessica yet.
In the comics, many of Jessica's clients are also superheroes.
Other Jessica Jones cast members includes The Matrix' Carrie-Anne Moss as Harper, a powerful ally to Jessica, as well as Rachael Taylor, who plays one of Jessica's closest friends, Patsy Walker, who Marvel Comics fans know as the superhero Hellcat.
In addition to Daredevil, Jessica Jones is the second Marvel character to get the Netflix treatment. The streaming service plans on also doing separate series for Luke Cage and Iron Fist, eventually bringing together the group for a series based on Marvel's The Defenders.
"I think ideally there will be a rhythm of about every six months you'll get a new season or a new series from the Defenders group," said Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos at TCA. "And then they'll crossover into a combined [Defenders] season once we've launched the first season of each of the four characters."
For those looking to get a closer look at the faces behind Netflix's Jessica Jones, the cast will attend New York Comic Con this weekend for their first public panel.
The entire first season of Jessica Jones premieres on Netflix on Nov. 20.
