Just a few years ago, no one could have predicted that we would have a Flash show on TV, let alone one as addictive as what The CW has brought to life. And one of the keys to The Flash's success is the show's ability to bring over-the-top comic book action to life, despite existing on a TV budget.
This focus on bringing The Flash's world from the page to the screen was highlighted last year by the inclusion of Gorilla Grodd, one of the Scarlet Speedster's most visually challenging foes.
He's a villain that a big budget movie would have issues dealing with, let alone a weekly TV show. Somehow, though, the show pulled off a CGI Grodd without a hitch, and now it looks like we'll be getting even more ape mayhem this season.
ComicBook.com learned, during a visit to The Flash set, that Grodd will be returning in season 2, but in what capacity is anybody's guess.
With multiple earths, alternate timelines and a new slew of supporting characters, The Flash is beginning to carve out a robust mythology that rivals its comic book counterpart, and the addition of more Grodd is a sign that the show is going to continue to deal with the ramifications of its first season.
