The Google Maps smartphone app has always been able to tell you where to go. Now, a new update may help you get to those places even faster.
The company will be rolling out a new update over the next few weeks to the Google Maps Android app that will allow users to check things like gas prices and detours without having to exit out of the app. Users will be able to tap the magnifying glass at the top right corner of the screen to access a drop-down menu that will feature locations like gas stations (which also has the new, neat feature of showing the price per gallon at each stop), grocery stores and restaurants. If you're looking for something else, you can also search for a place by tapping the search icon or by using voice commands.
Of course, this feature is nothing new for a navigation app, but it does help streamline the process a little. Plus, anything that might help alleviate stress while you're trying to figure out directions is always welcome.
