In this modern age of video gaming, delays happen: game release dates get pushed back and games rarely come out on time, and those that do come out on time are usually plagued with major glitches, bugs and other problems.
However, CD Projekt Red bucked that trend with its release of this year's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which not only came out on time, but also with very few reports of issues.
That's why it's probably a surprise that there's now a delay with its latest DLC for that game, "Hearts of Stone."
Don't worry, gamers can still get their hands on today's release of "Hearts of Stone," at least digitally, but for those who wanted or pre-purchased the special physical edition of that DLC that came with real Gwent cards, "Hearts of Stone" didn't arrive on time.
CD Projekt Red addressed the problem on The Witcher 3 official forums about the delay:
"Dear North American gamers, as you might have heard, we prepared a special boxed edition of 'Hearts of Stone' that was supposed to be sold in GameStop stores all over America," wrote CD Projekt Red. "However, it has come to our attention that, due to logistical problems, customers will be unable to obtain the physical edition of the game for several days after launch. We are working with GameStop to fix this situation as soon as possible and deeply apologize for the inconvenience. If you don't want to wait, you can still order the game in digital format and purchase your cards separately on www.redeemgwent.com."
However, that's not the only delay with the title: it seems that CD Projekt Red has also pushed back the release date of the next paid DLC "Blood and Wine" until later next year. Although the company planned on releasing the 20-plus hours of new content during the first quarter of 2016, a press release about "Hearts of Stone" shows a release date for "Blood and Wine" is now scheduled for the first half of 2016.
"We'll be communicating more about the exact launch date of 'Blood and Wine' at a later point in time," said a CD Projekt Red representative to GameSpot. "Stay tuned."
The digital version of the "Hearts of Stone" DLC is available today for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The $9.99 DLC offers over 10 hours of new gameplay as well as new characters, new monsters, new romances and new storylines.
