Samsung's new Game Tuner app is a great way to reduce resolution and frames per second (FPS) while playing games on your smartphone.
Smartphones have become a great way of entertaining its owners by playing music, videos, games and more. However, these activities especially playing visually-intensive video games can drain battery very fast.
The new Samsung Game Tuner app lets users know how graphically hungry specific games will be and also allows scaling down of resolution and FPS to adjust to the requirement of a specific game.
The frame rate can be altered from 15FPS to 60FPS depending on individual requirement of games. These adjustments will have a notable difference in the way the battery is used in the smartphone.
The Game Tuner app is very straightforward and easy to use. Per the Play Store, the "Supported Devices" for the app are the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5, while under the "In preparation" heading, the devices are Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.
Once the app is downloaded, users can opt for the pre-set mode that is applied to all games or they can manage resolution and FPS for individual games.
"This app can save serious amount of battery life, it have universal settings that affects all apps on the device or you can configure individual apps because most apps don't need to run at 60FPS wasting battery," commented a user on Play Store.
"I love this app. I may not plan on using it often but its there when needed. Working on Note5 T-Mobile," wrote another user on the Play Store.
The Game Tuner app may come to the rescue for many users who are constantly playing on their smartphones. The current version of the app is only compatible with a limited number of Samsung devices and smartphone owners will hope that Samsung extends the support for the app to other smartphones as well as tablets in the near term.
The app weighs only 6.2MB and requires Android 5.0 Lollipop or above to run.
