Jay Garrick Helps Barry Allen Take On The Sand Demon In ‘The Flash’ Promo For Episode 2, 'Flash Of Two Worlds'

Season 2 of The Flash premiered on Tuesday night, introducing us to the new threat in town: the Atom Smasher — played by former WWE Hall of Famer Edge, also known as Adam Copeland.

But even though our fears that Central City would be gobbled up by the singularity were put aside, that doesn't leave the city safe from new baddies coming through the portal. And in the promo for episode 2 titled "Flash of Two Worlds," we are introduced to the latest villain to come after Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin): the Sand Demon.

Comic book readers know the Firestorm villain Sand Demon as Eddie Slick. Created by Gerry Conway and Joe Brozowski, the Sand Demon first appeared in Firestorm #51 in 1986. Eddie Slick is a Martin Stein look-alike boxing manager who also sold steroids supplies as part as his affiliation with organized crime.

After the mob blamed Slick for the steroid ring getting busted, he was buried alive. But as fate would have it, this wouldn't be his end. Instead, he mutated and gained the ability to control sand.

The latest promo gives us our first look of the meta-human, who was sent by Zoom to take out The Flash — unleashing a sand cloud that throws the Scarlet Speedster to the ground in just a spilt second.

We then see Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) give Allen advice on how to defeat the Sand Demon, which raises Allen's curiosity about his new friend.

"How exactly do you know all this?" he asks.

"Where I came from, they called me 'The Flash,'" Garrick responds.

The official synopsis for "Flash of Two Worlds" is as follows:

"Jay Garrick (guest star Teddy Sears), a mysterious man from Earth-2, appears at S.T.A.R. Labs with a dire warning about an evil speedster named Zoom, who is set on destroying The Flash. Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team must decide if they can trust this stranger even as they face yet another powerful meta-human. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) must deal with a determined officer named Patty Spivot (guest star Shantal VanSanten) who wants to join his meta-human task force."
