The tough competition in the smartphone and tablet industry gives Android users a hard time in choosing which flagship suits them best. With powerful and innovative devices such as LG's upcoming V10, Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 and Huawei's Nexus 6P out in the market, it's no mystery why consumers don't know which to pick right away.
First off, users will want to know how each device performs. The V10 is equipped with a Snapdragon 808 clocked at 1.82 GHz, and the Nexus 6P is powered with a Snapdragon 810 at 2.0 GHz. The Galaxy Note 5 wins in the processor department with Samsung's Exynos 7420 clocked at 2.1 GHz.
People will also want to know the size and weight of the devices to figure out whether they're unwieldy or not. The V10's dimensions are 6.28 by 3.12 by 0.34 inches, the Nexus 6P's are 6.27 by 3.06 by 0.29 inches, and the Galaxy Note 5's are 6.03 by 3.00 by 0.30 inches, with all of them having 5.7-inch displays. LG's device weighs the most, but it is surprisingly light considering its Dura Guard material, whereas Samsung's is the lightest and the only one to support a stylus. However, LG triumphs over the two in terms of display with its dual screen.
Regarding their resolutions, they are on par with one another at 1440 x 2560, with the V10 coming with 515 ppi and both the Nexus 6P and Galaxy Note 5 with 518 ppi. They are all fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 too, so scratches aren't an issue with them.
Mobile gamers and heavy app users will be delighted to know that the Android device makers packed in powerful GPUs and large storage capacities. LG used Adreno 418 for its device and Samsung used Mali-T760MP8, both equipped with 4 GB RAM, whereas Huawei used Adreno 430 and 3 GB RAM. The V10 comes with 64 GB storage with an expandable slot that supports up to 128 GB. The Nexus 6P has models with 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage. The Galaxy Note 5 is available with 32 GB and 64 GB models.
Out of the box, Nexus 6P is installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and both the Galaxy Note 5 and the V10 come with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, though they are likely to be upgraded to Marshmallow in the future.
Regarding battery life, the Nexus 6P is powered by a Li-Po 3450 mAh battery. Both the Galaxy Note 5 and V10 are equipped with 3000 mAh batteries, but the former uses Li-Po and the latter Li-Ion.
Photography fans will get a kick out of Samsung's contender, but "selfie" fans will appreciate LG and Huawei's more. The V10 and Galaxy Note 5 have 16 MP rear cameras and 5 MP front cameras. The Nexus 6P has a 12 MP rear camera, but it focuses more on the 8 MP front camera, with support for 720p video recording at 30 fps. Meanwhile, the V10's front camera has duo lens, which can take 120-degree pictures.
Design-wise, it's really up to the consumers to decide which one fares better than the others. In terms of the USB port, Huawei takes the cake, as it supports Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, which means it's future ready. The two other devices sport a microUSB v2.0, which is not at all bad in any way.
The V10 is expected to go official sometime in October. The other devices are already available.
