'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D' Promo Is All About Protecting Inhumans

Although Marvel made it clear that this season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is all about the Inhumans, a new promo released in anticipation of Tuesday night's season premiere shows that it's not just about those with super powers, but also about protecting them "at all costs."

The trailer starts with one Inhuman previously seen rescued in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season three opening scene, which Marvel released last week. There's also Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), formerly known as Skye, embracing her new powers as Quake.

Marvel revealed the Quake costume a few weeks ago, and since then, most photos and videos released from the new season have featured her in her new capacity as a team leader responsible for helping S.H.I.E.L.D. protect the Inhumans from a new threat: a group that wants to capture them.

In this video, Marvel makes it clear that protecting the Inhumans is the goal of S.H.I.E.L.D. this season. And that means taking on the Advanced Threat Containment Unit (ATCU) led by Rosalind Price (Constance Zimmer).

Here's the official synopsis for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season three:

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for an action-packed third season on Tuesday, Sept. 29 (9:00-10:00 p.m. EDT) on the ABC Television Network, with Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Agent Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) leading the charge as S.H.I.E.L.D. searches the world for more powered people in the aftermath of their epic battle with Jiaying and her army of Inhumans. However, Coulson and the team soon find out that they are not the only group looking for these new Inhumans."

Of course, Inhumans and the ATCU aren't the only things S.H.I.E.L.D. has to worry about this season: Ward (Brett Dalton) has new plans for Hydra.

"This is not like your father's Hydra," Dalton said to Comic Vine. "In the past, they have been about world domination and all these things like that. It's not so much pro-world domination as it is anti-S.H.I.E.L.D."

Marvel also promises that this season brings the S.H.I.E.L.D. team back together as allies: the group didn't exactly get along well last season. But now, they have a new common enemy and a new group of people to protect.

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season premiere airs at 9 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 29, on ABC.
