It's no secret: BMW has already been rumored to be working on a performance-oriented X4, to be grouped under the German automaker's M performance banner.
Ahead of its scheduled unveiling at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the Internet has been spitting out fresh images as well as data sheets of the hotly awaited BMW X4 M40i.
A Belgium-based website, Autotijd, showed off the new images of the X4 M Performance model, indicating it will be dubbed BMW X4 M40i. While the automaker has yet to release official details in the next few days, it seems that we might also expect that an X3 M40i will likely be unwrapped as well.
BMW M Performance cars are designed to impress auto buyers who are on the lookout for some added performance.
Alongside the images, enthusiast site Bimmertoday also leaked rumored specs of the turbocharged six-cylinder engine.
The site uncovered that the car will purportedly house a 3.0 liter engine, enough to deliver 265 kW of power from 5,800-6,000 rpm and 465 Nm of torque between 1,350-5,250 rpm.
The model is expected to sprint from 0-100 km/h in only 4.9 seconds. This translates to 0.6 seconds faster thank the 35i. The top speed of the BMW X4 M40i is capped at 250 km/h.
The published leaked photos of the car's interior design suggest that the M40i is equipped with new sill plates, a 3-Series M Sport-derived steering wheel, as well as a refreshed instrument cluster.
Moreover, the M40i model sports a new front bumper boasting thin strips of chrome trim. It features a revamped rear bumper plus a pair of round exhaust tips. The model comes with new 19-inch alloy wheels. The leaked photos also show off updated Sport seats.
Judging from the photos and specs pushed out over the Internet, it seems that the German automaker is ready to release full details on its X4 M40i soon.
It was earlier reported that the crossover is slated to go on sale early next year. It is as well rumored that the new model will first hit European markets.
