This promotional discount aims to celebrate Amazon's recent success at the Emmy Awards, where it grabbed no less than five accolades for its original series Transparent.
An Amazon Prime membership includes a number of perks, including free two-day shipping on countless items even during the holidays, access to a vast trove of free TV shows, books and music, unlimited cloud storage for photos, 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals on Amazon and more.
Amazon doesn't make its money from hardware, as it sells its tablets at breakeven prices. Its profits stem from the purchases people make on Amazon, and its Amazon Prime subscription service plays a great role in that strategy.
Online shopping addicts who order basically everything from Amazon, from shampoo to electronics, clothes and others, will likely find this deal quite attractive. At $67, the one-year subscription to Amazon Prime can pay for itself in no time thanks to the perks it offers, such as the free shipping.
It's worth pointing out, however, that this new promotional offer is available only for new customers. Existing Amazon subscribers who want to renew their annual membership will not be able to take advantage of this $67 promotional pricing, and they'll still have to pay $99 for the one-year subscription.
On the other hand, there's a loophole that lets them bypass this limitation. More specifically, existing Prime members can purchase a gift subscription at the discounted $67 price, email it to themselves, cancel their auto-renew on their existing subscription and redeem the gift subscription once their existing one expires.
